That’s what makes it a great obstacle today.

That’s what makes it a great obstacle today.

That noose only worked because it was a legitimate threat.
Penny auctions could happen today, but only combined with a similar legitimate threat. That’s the obstacle.

Glad you came back to read this.
I struggle with this too, and I’m old. It is a difficult habit to break out of. I urge you to put a lot of effort into this, make “doing the things” your habit.
But most especially, forgive yourself if you don’t do the thing. The best time to have done the thing is “already”, and the second best time is “right now”, and if you do the thing at the second best time right now, when you’re done it will become the best.
Or, if you’re having a hard time doing the thing, just do a small part of the thing. A sub-thing, as it were. “It’s a little bit better than it was before.”
Of course, because with everything comes misery.

If we made cars and appliances that lasted, …
We do. Cars especially, today, are vastly more efficient, reliable, longer-lived, and safer than cars even 30 years ago. Appliances, too.

It’s kind of a feature of humanity. That’s been going on since there were resources to hoard, and any people with the capability and will to hoard them.

The only time I’ve ever lost anything from a fridge was when an apartment complex preemptively cleared out the last of our belongings before we finished moving out.
And that was 30 years ago.

I opt out by not spending $2K on a fridge that annoys me by its mere existence.

lol “joy”
The explosions.

Oh sure, that, too. That was their phase two, buying up venues.

It’s a symbiotic relationship. Ticketmaster takes the heat for adding cost, the venues get some kickback and don’t have to have an expense on their books. Everyone is complicit.

Do the things. Do them. Don’t leave them until later. There are always things. If you don’t do the now things, thinking you can do them later, there will be other things later.
Not doing the things only puts you behind, possibly forever.
Do the things.
False dichotomy.
