High heat (something wrong with the printer) Third party (Crappy made ones heat up and eject toner out of weak spots) By looking at this image though, it was most likely caused by: Waste tank was full and someone reset the toner settings, causing air to be pumped into the waste tank until it popped like this. TL;DR: Quit being a cheapass company and replace your toner cartridges when it says to. BTW, this is a circa 2000s Canon imageRUNNER 3200 series. Bets are that this image is also 20 years old.
