You can have the best of both worlds. There’s a lot of smart home stuff that isn’t owned by a corporation. For vacuums, Valetudo is amazing and fun to set up, if not a little nerve wracking risking bricking your expensive appliance.

I actually only go for the 400Mbps down plan, and it’s 40Mbps up across all of their plans, including the 1.2Tbps plan. I believe it’s some outdated hardware limitation of cable or something, at least that’s what I’ve heard.

I’m so tired of my 40Mbps upload speeds. Why can I get 1.2Tbps down, but only 40Mbps up? It’s crazy.

This has to be ragebait.

I mean, not really. You can apply for copyright on your content that has been posted to YouTube. If you don’t like how YouTube is distributing your content, applying AI filters to it or whatever, you can take it down. If you want to upload your content somewhere else, you can. You own your content, YouTube just distributes it how they see fit.

This guy, Jake, used to work at LTT/LMG, and has recently started his own channel. I do hope he finds a new groove, as I preferred his presentation style while he was at LTT. He seems to have adopted a “YouTuber” way of presenting - overexaggerating things, and being often overly impressed. Even seeing him on Zip Tie Tuning (a couple of other former LMG people’s new channel), he seemed to act more like I remembered him on LTT. Like I said, I just hope he finds a groove.
I also was super not aware how much he was into Apple products, which is weird for a tech enthusiast.
There’s a version of every device that doesn’t phone home. I switched to HomeAssistant a couple years ago now, and I think all of my stuff is finally local as of a few months ago, including my robot vacuum.
