Yes. Even putting aside what enshittification has done to the userbase in recent years, Reddit has always skewed Democrat, Fediverse skews leftist.
Yes. The average reddit user NOW is further right than the average reddit user before the start of lemmy. Different people. The most left ones are with lemmy now.
I don’t think Lemmy is large enough to have had a noticeable impact on the makeup of Reddit.
When I stooped to check out the r/conservative subreddit after Kirk’s murder, it amused me how many of it’s denizens were bemoaning how bad ‘redditors’ were, as if they weren’t also on reddit.
I don’t go to reddit very much any more. 'Tis a silly place.
and they are also in the most exclusive echo chamber on reddit too. they tried to branch out with disengenious "both sides " subs, but i dont think it can match r/conservative and r/conspiracy, since they are the cesspools for other the banned right wing subs. i have never seen an exclusive “left leaning sub” on the site, that wasnt astroturfed by right wingers. city/states specific subs are taken over by right wingers or tankies to the specific location.(tankies as in supporting the way the govt in that city is behaviing)
That’s an interesting take. I would have thought that reddit trended left previously and just shifted further left over time.
I am seeing open racism more than ever on reddit.
It probably has something to do with the type of crowd that reddit promotes. More controversial takes probably get boosted more because they draw more eyes for more time. They’re trying to copy Meta.
